Centering Prayer

Christian Centering Prayer is a practice of sitting in silence before God. It is a method of prayer that helps prepare us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, in which we experience God’s presence within us.

Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other forms of prayer; it is a prayerful discipline that helps us to progress in our spiritual journey. It helps us learn to rest in God, and to bring that sense of prayerful rest and connection to God into other areas of our lives at times when we are not practicing Centering Prayer.

The Centering Prayer group at St. Thomas’ Church will meet in the Church at 14300 St. Thomas Church Road, Upper Marlboro, on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, beginning August 4th. Everyone is welcome! For more information, please contact the Rector, the Rev. Debbie Brewin-Wilson, at rector@stthomascroom.org, or phone the church at 301-627-8469.
