Encountering God

Strengthening Community

Reflecting the Love of Christ in the World

Who We Are

At St. Thomas' Parish, we know that we are part of a larger community here in Prince George's County, and we want to increase our outreach to our neighbors.  Part of our vision is to initiate events that bring the Parish and the wider community together.  Reaching out to our neighbors, we seek to follow our Lord, Jesus Christ, who teaches us to "love your neighbor as yourself."

What We Believe

Episcopalians are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer.

We believe in amendment of life, forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting. Our worship retains ancient traditions, welcomes fresh expressions, and is celebrated in many languages. Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians.

The people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of the Church. We welcome men and women, married or celibate, to be ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops. We affirm that committed relationships are lifelong and monogamous.

We also recognize that there is still grace after divorce, and do not deny the sacraments to those who have been divorced. We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to work for justice and peace. We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion.

The Episcopal Church USA has members throughout the world, and is one of the 44 provinces of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which traces it heritage to the beginnings of Christianity. You are welcome here!
